PLEASE NOTE
- It is normal for
the red indicator light to be on at all times unless the pins are touching
a wood sample that is wetter than 6%.
- If the pins are
in the air, the red indicator light will be on at all times. To check
that your meter is functioning correctly, touch both pins with your
finger. This will result in a moisture content reading of approximately
14% - 22%. You can also test a wood sample that has been stored outdoors
for a long period of time.
- It is important
to realize that if wood has been stored in a heated environment (indoors
during winter) for an extended period, it is common for it to have a
moisture content below 6%. This means that the indicator light will
turn on at the first position (<6%).
